Clean sweep against the Swans secures finals spots

Sam Coates successfully appeals for caught behind

Four wins against Casey-South Melbourne has secured finals spots for three True Blues men's teams.

Unfortunately for he Firsts, Footscray Edgewater hung on to the final spot in the eight after defeating Geelong outright. The Cats put up a fight in their second innings and were only four wickets down half way through the day. However, it was all over by tea and the result at Toorak Park became academic.

Carlton also rolled Melbourne University in an outright result so we finish tenth on the ladder and will miss the finals for the first time in eight years.

Despite this disappointment there will be plenty of finals action for True Blues fans with the men's Seconds, Thirds and Fourths and the womens Firsts all playing next weekend.

The men's Seconds bowled out the Swans for 196 to claim fifth spot and will play Melbourne University at the university next week.

The Thirds moved up five places by rolling Casey-SM for 48 and 34 to take maximum points and move up from tenth to fifth. The thirds will take on Northcote.

The Fourths consolidated their position by bowling out the Swans for 206 and claim sixth spot on the ladder. They will play Footscray Edgewater at Footscray.

The women's competition was completed on Sunday with final positions up for grabs in First Grade in a very close competition. The WP1s could have finished anywhere between first and fourth and in a dramatic day clinched a bonus point against Plenty Valley to secure top spot on averages with all three top teams finishing on 312 points.

The WP2s have fought gallantly all year but unfortunately will not qualify after finishing sixth in their grade.
