It is with deep regret and sadness that we advise of the recent passing of former player, committeeman, selector and Hall of Fame inductee, Arthur Davie.
Arthur passed away on 14 October at the age of 92.
Arthur played with our Third and Fourth Elevens for many seasons after coming to the cub direct from school at Melbourne Grammar.
He followed in the footsteps of his father Bert who was our First Eleven captain and who had under his charge two future club identities and legends in Bob Parish and Sam Loxton.
Arthur and Bert also have the distinction of being one of three father-son combinations who became inductees into the club's Hall of Fame, an honour they share with the Parish's, the Loxton's and the Malligan's.
Arthur always maintained his keen interest in our club, attending First Eleven games at Toorak Park with his wife Gwen. He will be remembered fondly as a true gentleman and a most generous financial donor, which is greatly appreciated.
Our deepest sympathy and condolences are extended to Gwen, daughters Kate and Susan together with son Mark.
Arthur will never be forgotten.
