The PCC first XI started their campaign down on the Peninsula against Frankston last Saturday.  After a big pre-season the young guys were keen to make a great start. The older guys just didn’t want to have their cars broken into.

We were sent in on a hard bouncy wicket. We were quickly 4 for 20.

Some said this was as a result of good bowling by the Heat, but I think it was the fact our guys found it hard to concentrate on batting whilst having to look at the most disgusting clothing in the history of sport.

The Heats new Royal Blue outfits were rather similar to the M&M jumpers Carlton FC wore a few years ago.  Horrible.

Club veterans Hussey, Schlittler and McGain nudged our score to a competitive 231.  The ladies put on a good lunch, although onions should not be included in sandwiches please. Cordial was a good blend.  8/10.  Good first up effort ladies.

Round 1 Man of the match McGain on last years end of season trip

Our bowlers squeezed Frankston’s young batting line up and had them needing 6 an over for most of the day.  McGain, Huckett, Seymour and Clarke were all outstanding.  Wild and McGuiness were fantastic in the field.

The Heat was 20 runs short and The Prahran Vikings start with 6 points.

Thought of the day: Murphy (0), Seymour (0) and Wild (0) have hit thousands of balls preseason, done millions of sit ups and push-ups and are as fit as they have ever been.  Schlittler (74) did a preseason gambling in Vegas and drinking beer at Hooters in LA with Gus.  Hmmmm, I think there is a lesson in that for all of us.  As Arnberger preaches, ‘fat happy cricketers make runs’.
