It only seems like yesterday we played our first match and already we have completed 4 rounds. Last Saturday saw us don our bullet proof vests, book a translator and head out to war torn Dandenong.

Major Barry had us training differently during the week.  We didn’t concentrate on catching, batting and bowling but shifted the focus to weapon retention, clearing land mines and hand to hand combat.

Annie was good enough to make up some ration packs for us on Thursday night.

Saturday morning at Toorak Park was an emotional affair as we all said farewell to loved ones, not knowing if we would ever make it home.

Corporal Harrison lost the toss and we had to face the firing squad first.  Unfortunately the Dandy boys couldn’t fire straight and we managed to dodge a few bullets.

Seymour looked far too malnourished for combat and could only handle the heat for a few overs before we packed him off to the infirmary.

BJ was stoic for a fantastic 82. Murph and the skipper chipped in with handy runs and we managed to get 235.

“The Prahran top order getting ready for battle”

Huck and Skinny were fired up to start well with the ball.  They should have left their deliveries in the latrines instead of off loading that crap in the middle!

The Dandy insurgents got off to a flyer and were up with the required run rate all day. Field Marshall McGain, on his 5th tour of duty, was too experienced and was well supported by Wildy.  They got us back in the game with some economical bowling.  The Panthers need 6 an over from the last 10. Jack ‘Young, Dumb & full of C--’ Jarvis was the difference and picked up ‘4 fa’ for the second week in a row.

Some good catching and self belief got us home…'just'.

Two from Four, with the Two day matches starting this week. Every player has shown a bit this year and we look like we could get on a roll.

Purple Heart to BJ McGuinness.  RIP Liam Murphy’s bowling career.
