MN: Leading the 4th XI in a final in 2004/05 (my first final in nearly 20 years); it became memorable for all the wrong reasons after Melbourne made 413 on day 1 and I picked up a virus before day 2 and was too ill to make much of a contribution with the bat! (we did make 290 in reply though)
CG: Who is the person you have met at Prahran that stands out the most in your memory and why?
MN: Barry Neivandt - he is as responsible as anyone for turning around the Club's performances on the field; we've gone from mediocrity to winning games consistently in all XIs; he has generated the discipline and focus that has been lacking for most of my time at the Club
Special mention to people such as Ian Crawford, Andrew Warne-Smith and David Jukes who do so much work behind the scenes to keep the Club going
CG: Boxers or briefs?
MN: Briefs (enough said!)
CG: If you could have your Prahran time again would you change anything?
MN: I would not have agreed to fill in as captain of the 2nd XI when the regular captain was injured - I wasn't cut out to lead a side at that level (as losses by 200 runs and 150 runs probably showed!)
CG: In your time at Prahran have there been any other presidents other than Ian Crawford?
MN: I'm not that old!
CG: Has crawf ever told you it is “magnificent to see you”?
MN: No - I've only ever got "great to see you"!
CG: What came first the chicken or the egg?
MN: The chicken. I can believe that the chicken evolved from another creature, but I can't see the egg evolving from anything else - so the chicken must have been around to lay the egg!
CG: Thanks very much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to talk to us Ice Man, keep up the good work captaining the fourth eleven and lets hope you get that premiership you have been waiting so long for. |
