The penultimate Round of Cricket Victoria's Premier Cricket for the Prahran 1st XI can rightly be described as a "Mini Final".

With Ringwood and Carlton effectively secure in the top two positions, there is a real scramble for the other six finalist positions, with effectively eight teams, including the Blues, looking to secure a finals berth.

The 1st XI (6th, 35pts) host Footscray Edgewater (8th, 30pts) at Toorak Park, and although a loss would not spell the end of a finals berth, a loss by the Doggies will.  So the action will be intense.

The selectors have strengthened the batting line up with the inclusion of Liam Murphy for his first match in the top side foir the season at the expense of Adam Drinkwell, while Paul Sealey returns from injury at the expense of Leigh Alford, who made an impressive 1st XI debut last round.

The other important matches in the round are:
Fitzroy Doncaster (3rd, 37pts) should beat Northcote and St Kilda (5th, 36pts) will be aiming for an outright against Casey South Melbourne, while the Geelong (4th, 36pts) vs Frankston Peninsula (9th, 28pts) and Melbourne (10th, 27pts) vs Camberwell Magpies matches will be keenly watched, with Hawthorn Monash University (7th, 34pts) expected to lose to top side Ringwood.
