Date: Saturday, 22 November 2008 Author: Michael J. McLaughlin

It was a washout on all fronts for the Prahran teams on Day 2 of their Round 7 matches against Geelong.

Toorak Park was awash with water and hail, yes hail provided a scenic cover around 9:45 am as play was abandoned for the day by umpires Leehane and Ventura at 10:17am.

The 2nd XI travelled to Geelong’s Kardinia Park and actually got onto the park after a delayed start at 12 noon.  The Cats resumed at 2/41 and had a maximum of 93 overs in pursuit of Prahran’s 197.  The Geelong bats were able to score runs freely despite the efforts of Adam Drinkwell (3), Leigh Alford (1) and Charlie Burke (1) and at the midway point of the day’s play were 5/148.  Although wickets continued to fall, with Chris Williamson claiming four of them, the Cats eventually passed the Prahran score and batted on till their innings finished at 260.

The 3rd and 4th XI matches were abandoned on the direction of the Pennant Committee first thing Saturday morning.

The wash-up of the days proceedings, ladder-wise is:

1st XI.  In equal fourth position on 19 points, sixth on percentage, and play Northcote next weekend who are in equal seventh place (16 pts) but eighth on percentage.

2nd XI.  Are currently in thirteenth place with 13 points and play Northcote who are in eighth place on 17 points.

3rd XI.  Are equal first on 23 points but third on percentage and play Northcote who are also on 23 points and actually on top by percentage.

4th XI.  Are in twelfth place on 13 points and play Northcote who are eighth on 17 points.

Toorak Park with a nice covering of hail.
