Prahran Cricket Club players figured prominantly at the Cricket Victoria 2005/2006 Gala Awards Night at Crown Palladium on Tuesday, 4th April 2006.  Jason Arnberger, David Hussey and Bryce McGain were all recipients of individual awards for their performances during the season.

Bill Lawry Medal

Opener Jason Arnberger was named as the 2005/2006 Bill Lawry Medallist for his perfromances in Pura Cup matches for Victoria.

A visably shocked Jason received his award from the legendary Australian and Victorian Cptain and class opener. After opening the 2005/06 season with seven scores all in the low teens, Jason exploded as Victoria charged towards a Pura Cup final. Drawing on his renowned mental strength, Jason bounced back with a couple of centuries, eventually totalling 721 runs for the season for an average of 45.06 and a strike rate of 49.23. His highest score was a mammoth 239 not out against New South Wales

Dean Jones Medal

Hard hitting middle order batsman David Hussey was named as the 2005/2006 Dean Jones Medallist for his outstanding performances for Victoria in ING One Day matches.

In 10 hands for the Bushrangers, David scored a total of 535 runa at an average of 76.42, whch included 1 hundred and 4 fifties. His highest score was 130 against Queensland was part of a fourth wicket partnership of 205 with captain Cameron White which is a new Victorian record. His 75 not out off just 47 balls against Western Australia was another reason why David is an indespensible member of the Bushrangers One Day side

Premier Cricket Team of the Season

Prahran Captain and wily leg spinner Bryce McGain was named in the Premier Cricket 2005/2006 Team of the Season.

This is the third time that Bryce has been selected in this prestigeous team. On the two previous occassions, he has been named as captain.

Bryce played 16 matches for Prahran in the 2005/06 season, bowling 228.1 overs for 33 wickets at an average of 18.85, with his best being 5/75. As well, as a handy lower order batsman, he scored 291 runs at an average of 32.33 for a strike rate of 48.00, as well as taking 5 catches.

Premier Cricket Player of the Season

Cricket Victoria's Premier Cricket Department released the Umpires voting for the Player of the Season in each grade.  The winners were:

1st XI.
Graeme Rummans (St Kilda) and Michael Allen (Carlton) - 34 votes.
2nd XI.
James Flynn (Carlton) - 28 votes.
3rd XI.
Mark O'Sullivan (Frankston Peninsula) - 20 votes.
4th XI.
Jamie Barnett (Ringwood) - 27 votes

 

Leading vote getters for the Prahran Cricket Club were:

1st XI.
Bryce McGain - 14 votes.
2nd XI.
Nat Campbell and Neil Schlittler - 15
3rd XI.
Chris Williamson - 18 votes.
4th XI.
Michael Menegazzo - 12 votes.
