Congratulations are extended to our very own David Hussey who has been selected in the Australian A team to tour Pakiston in the coming weeks.  He is one of three members of the Victorian Bushrangers to be part of this squad.

The full Cricket Victoria press release is as follows:

Three members of the VB Victorian Bushrangers were selected in the Australia A team for its upcoming tour of Pakistan. The National Selection Panel (NSP) announced today the inclusion of Cameron White, David Hussey and Andrew McDonald. White has been appointed vice-captain with Adam Voges as captain.

Brad Hodge’s talents received further endorsement when he was selected in Australia’s team to play in the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 tournament in South Africa, as well as the national one-day side for the upcoming series against India.

All four of the Victorians have been in tremendous form in the past year, with Hodge, White and Hussey consistently smashing English county bowlers in recent months. Earlier this week David Hussey became the first player of the season to reach 1000 runs in the LV County Championship. He has also been scoring heavily in the other forms of the game.

McDonald, the current Bill Lawry medallist, had a stand-out summer for Victoria becoming on the fifth player in the history of Australian first-class cricket to score 750 runs and take 25 or more wickets. McDonald was excited to be selected for Australia A for the first time. “I’m thrilled to be selected and look forward to continuing to develop my game over in Pakistan,” McDonald said. “The tour will also provide valuable match practice leading into the Bushrangers’ first match in mid October.”

Commenting on the squads, NSP Chairman Andrew Hilditch said: “As Australian selectors, one of the very important tasks is the selection of the Australia A team, which we regard as our second best team, albeit with a view to the future of Australian cricket.

“This side is no exception. It boasts some of our finest young batsmen and upcoming young quicks but we’ve taken the opportunity to take three spinners and also look at prominent all-rounders Andrew McDonald and James Hopes”.
