Date: Thursday, 8 February 2007 Author: Chris Garcia/John Malligan

On Thursday the 8th of February, the Prahran Cricket Club held its inaugural breakfast. The guests were supposed to be the great Australian fast bowlers Merv Hughes and Damien Fleming with Prahran's own David Hussey as MC. Damien Fleming failed to appear, however big Merv stepped up to the plate and entertained the 120 people who attended the morning held at the Park Hyatt in Melbourne.

Merv regaled the audience with stories of growing up in the western suburbs and making the move to district cricket and the path that led him to play for Australia, all the time using language that would make a sailor blush! After the entertaining stories were completed Merv was good enough to field questions as well as give some insight into the life of an Australian selector and before we knew it the morning was at an end.

Well done to Paul Sealy and Bryce McGain who organized the fantastic event and well done to David Hussey who did a fantastic job as MC of his first major event.
