It is common for us to exchange players with clubs in the United Kingdom and this year is no different as we welcome Grace Scrivens, and welcome back Ethan Brookes for his second season.
After a successful season with the club last year Ethan returned in time to hit up a patient 104 in our Rnd 3 match against Northcote in October. Grace, on the other hand, joined us just prior to the Christmas break and impressed with 78 not out off 62 balls in her first match for the Women's Firsts against Carlton.
Grace is a 20 year-old left-hand bat and right-arm off break bowler who currently plays for Kent, the Sunrisers and London Spirit. The hard-hitting opening bat also captained the England U19 side to the World Cup final in early 2023 and will provide significant firepower at the top of our batting order.
22 year-old Ethan proved a popular member of the first eleven last season, showing the way on the field with 542 runs at 31.88. He hit a memorable 133 against Melbourne but was hampered with an injury that prevented him bowling his seamers for much of the season.
His efforts last weekend surpassed his previous century as he smashed a brilliant 146 runs off 71 balls in the T20 match against Footscray, including 9 fours and 12 sixes.
Previously with Warwickshire CCC, Ethan has recently made the move to Worcester CCC for the coming English summer having signed a two-year contract with them to the end of the 2025 season.
Do yourself a favour and take the time to watch these two fine young cricketers in action, you will not be disappointed!
Welcome Grace and Ethan and we hope you enjoy your time with the True Blues this summer.
